Emergency Water Extraction FAQ

Common questions about emergency water extraction in DMV.

Yes, we provide emergency water extraction across Northern Virginia for homes and businesses. Call us as soon as you find standing water so we can respond and begin removal.

Burst pipes during winter freezes, sump pump failures, and basement flooding from heavy storms are the most common reasons Northern Virginia homeowners call for emergency extraction. Sewage backups and appliance leaks are also frequent triggers.

Yes, we document affected areas and the extent of water intrusion to support your insurance claim. Having a professional record of the damage helps your adjuster assess the loss accurately.

Removing standing water and drying building materials quickly reduces the conditions mold needs to grow. The longer water sits in walls, floors, and cavities, the greater the risk becomes.

Yes, we extract water from basements, crawl spaces, and above-grade living areas throughout Northern Virginia. Basements are especially common because of the region's clay soils and older drainage infrastructure.

Shut off the water source if the flooding is from a pipe or appliance, and avoid entering areas with standing water near electrical panels or outlets. Move valuables to a dry area if it is safe to do so.

Tory was a recommendation from our real estate agent - and what a great contact to have. Tory and Kenyatta came out the next day after being contacted, luckily for us because he had a cancellation and a chance opening. We (my partner and I) are first-time home buyers and have basically no idea what we are doing. Tory showed us around and explained everything in a detailed and easy to understand manner. He was extremely friendly, informative, and thorough. What sets this company apart from many others is that they don't charge for a re-inspection and they came as a duo - so you just have the one upfront charge and the inspection was reasonably quick. Tory took us through not just all of what they were evaluating, but through some information regarding basic home maintenance. He maintains his relationships with his clients and made us feel very comfortable about reaching out in the future with questions. We feel lucky that we had this inspector and can't recommend them more!

Tory and Tom were absolutely awesome to work with and will meet you at whatever your knowledge level is to ensure you feel comfortable in the conversation. They were super thorough and most importantly to us, practical in explanations and associated estimates. Really great guys you'll immediately trust and they are fantastic at what they do.

Tory and Protect the Investment, LLC are lifesavers!!! My contractors discovered some unexpected mold in my condo when completing repairs after a water leak. I called PTI and Tory was out at my property the next day. He and his team completed the remediation the day after the his initial assessment. He was prompt, professional, and affordable. I HIGHLY recommend.

I had an outstanding experience working with Tory for a home inspection on a single-family property. From start to finish, Tory was incredibly thorough and professional. The inspection report was extremely detailed, clearly outlining every issue that needed to be addressed, with supporting visuals and clear explanations. Thanks to the thoroughness of his report, we were able to successfully negotiate concessions with the sellers to address several major issues he identified — a huge win that added real value to the process. What truly stood out was the level of follow-up support I received. Tory made himself fully available to answer all of my follow-up questions, especially when certain things raised by the general contractor didn’t seem quite right. His input was instrumental in helping me choose the right contractor and avoid unnecessary work. If you’re looking for someone who’s detailed, accessible, and genuinely looking out for your best interest, I highly recommend Tory. You’ll be in good hands.

Tori was my home inspector on my first home (a major fixer upper!) Now after move in, I'm seeing his thorough inspection caught every single issue from structural issues, plumbing, electric, small leaks, roofing issues. He even noted issues with appliances that we are now seeing. We haven't found any issue he hasn't already noted in our report. We worked with him on multiple homes that we had put in offers for and his report helped us walk away from some beautiful- seeming homes that would have bankrupted us if we had foolishly not done a thorough inspection. His report was a great guide for electricians and plumbers on what to fix as we get the house into shape. And today when we called him for potential asbestos abatement inside a wall we opened, like always, he was prompt, comprehensive, and on it! Came within a day, took samples, and helped us by identifying clear issues we hadn't seen and even offering recommendations of other trusted contractors who can complete the work. I felt overwhelmed by his thoughtfulness and expertise to leave this review! We have 100% trust in Tori and have been incredibly lucky to have him as our first home inspector so we are able to call him for other work now. If you're doing your home inspection and not sure if hes going to check every out, he will! And more than that, he offers other services like asbestos and lead abatement that can help you trust as a homeowner that he's doing the right thing. The name feels right and I can tell he's helping us protect our house and investment!
